那覇市内にある人口ビーチ、波の上ビーチ。
ここは、那覇中心部からのアクセスもよく、観光客が多く集まる場所でもあります。

沖縄に住み始めた頃は、その「波の上ビーチ」の青さに感動をしましたが、
今では、沖縄の海の本当の青さを知ってしまい、全くと言っていいほど綺麗さを感じません。

沖縄本島北部や離島の海を見たら誰しもがそう感じるはずです。

私が沖縄に住み始めた頃、現地の知人に波の上ビーチが綺麗だと言うと、
鼻で笑っていましたが、今ではその気持ちが深く良くわかります。苦笑

しかし、那覇空港からのアクセスも良く、当日帰省する方も多く訪れることで夏場は結構賑やかです。
内地の人間が沖縄の海を楽しむ場所としては悪くはありません。

この那覇空港近くの波の上ビーチですが、そう言った賑やかな雰囲気とは逆にもうひとつの顔を持っています。

波の上ビーチは、地元ホームレスの溜まり場なのです。

波の上ビーチの後ろ側の日陰のベンチには常にホームレス達がいるのです。
それぞれ、ゴミを漁ったり、仲間同士で将棋をやったりと、
明るい海水浴の遊びとは全く違う雰囲気を醸し出しているのです。

沖縄の綺麗な海、景観と共に映る現実の風景なのです。

どういった経緯で波の上ビーチに辿り着いたのかはわかりませんが、
多くのホームレスの溜まり場と化しているのです。

噂では夜は、波の上ビーチの海やシャワーを風呂の代わりとして生活をしていると訊きます。
少し前は、ホームレスが波の上ビーチで溺れて亡くなったと言うニュースなども流れていました。

また、この辺りは夜は治安が悪く地元の人はあまり近寄らないという場所でもあります。

最近では近くにイオンが出来たりと少しずつ周りの雰囲気は明るくなってきましたが、
まだまだ夜は決して安全な場所とは言えません。

波の上ビーチ近辺で遊ぶ際は、気をつけて過ごしましょう。
