沖縄の結婚式の風習は本土と異なる!?

沖縄の結婚式の風習は本土と文化が異なります。
沖縄に移住してはじめて沖縄の結婚式に参列した際、
文化の違いに驚かされたのを今でもよく覚えています。

会社の上司の結婚式招待されたのですが、祝儀から服装まで
何かと気を遣った記憶があります。

ちなみに沖縄の方言で結婚式のことを「にーびち」といいます。

沖縄の結婚式

まず、沖縄の結婚式は本土に比べると招待人数が圧倒的に
多いことに驚かされます。
本土の結婚式であれば100名も招待したら割りと大規模な
結婚式の印象がありますが、沖縄の結婚式は200〜300名以上は参列します。
まるで芸能人の結婚式のようです。

また、驚くことに結婚式ではうちなータイムが流れているのか
遅刻してくる人が多数います。
呼ばれた時間に行っても席が半分くらい空いているなんてことも
少なくありません。。
呼ばれていないのに参列する人がいることもあるそうです。苦笑

その他、服装に関しても時期によって良し悪しがあったりと、
沖縄の結婚式に参列する際は、その風習としきたりをよく頭に
入れておく必要があります。

招待人数が多い

はじめて沖縄で結婚式に招待をされた際、その人数に驚かされました。
まるで芸能人の結婚式かのような披露宴スペースと参列人数。
本土では100人もいれば招待人数が多いという印象ですが
沖縄では300人くらいの参列は当たり前、500人を超える
参列者がいる結婚式も珍しくありません。
異性の友だちもお構いなしに招待するのが当たり前です。
人数の多さに驚かされないように心の準備をしておきましょう。

参列する際の服装

結婚式に参列する際はスーツというのが一般的です。
しかし、沖縄の結婚式の場合、かりゆしウェアもOKなのです。
かりゆしウェアは沖縄では正装であり、普段のビジネスシーンなどでも皆が着用しています。
正装なため、かりゆしウェアは沖縄の冠婚葬祭では定番なのです。
そもそも「かりゆし」という言葉は沖縄の方言で「縁起が良い」「おめでたい」などの
意味が含まれているそうです。
ただ、最近はスーツ着用率が若者を中心に上がっているという話もあります。
周りの人と事前にある程度話して決めると間違いないと思います。
ちなみに、10月～3月という冬の時期は原則スーツになるので注意しましょう。

祝儀について

沖縄の結婚式の祝儀は友達1万円、会社のお偉いさんや親族であれば3万円が相場です。
本土の祝儀に比べると沖縄の祝儀はお財布には優しいと一見感じます。
しかし、沖縄の結婚式は人数が多い分、招待をされることも多いので
トータルでみると祝儀の出費は本土より多いのかもしれません。
私の知り合いでは、1年に12回結婚式に参列したという強者もいます。

お酒は乾杯挨拶前から飲み始める

普通、誰かが乾杯の挨拶をし、その後にお酒を飲むのが一般的かと思いますが、
沖縄の結婚式は、乾杯の挨拶などお構いなしに席についた瞬間お酒を飲み始めます。
これは式場的にも新郎新婦的にも容認しているのか、そもそも乾杯の挨拶まで
飲むのを待つという発想が無いようです。
はじめは戸惑いましたが、今では遠慮せず私も飲むようにしています。

席次について

通常、親族が1番後方に座り、会社同僚などが1番前に座るというのが一般的な席次です。
しかし、沖縄の場合は逆です。
親族が新郎新婦の目の前に座り、その後ろに会社関係者、友人が一番後ろといった席次です。
その為、沖縄の友人の結婚式に招待されて1番後ろの席でも笑顔で受け入れましょう。

食事は円卓で皆と一緒に食べる

本土の結婚式では一人ひとりコース料理が振る舞われますが、沖縄の結婚式は違います。
中華料理の様に円卓で料理が振る舞われます。
席についた時にはパーティセットのように料理が既に準備されていて、
途中スープなどが運ばれてくる程度です。
遠慮せずにどんどん食べましょう。

必ずと言っていいほど余興でエイサーがある

沖縄の結婚式は全体的に余興に気合が入っています。
全体的に余興が占める割合が多い印象です。
エイサーなど沖縄の文化に触れたものは当たり前、
その他、友人が気合を入れて考えた余興を見ることが出来ます。
友人挨拶含め、沖縄の結婚式文化を感じるものなので楽しめます。
余興への参加を頼まれたら積極的に力を貸してあげましょう。

披露宴終わりに必ずカチャーシーに参加させられる

沖縄では、結婚式などのおめでたい席ではカチャーシーを踊るという文化があります。
カチャーシーとは、掻き混ぜるという意味があり、沖縄独特のの手踊りです。
結婚式やお祭りなどのおめでたいときに、手を頭上でひらひらと動かす踊りを
カチャーシーと呼びます。
カチャーシーからが終わると新郎を胴上げするという光景をよく目にします。
これが沖縄の結婚式の王道パターンなのだと思います。
雰囲気に任せてカチャーシーに参加しましょう。

沖縄の結婚式もお祝い事に変わりはない

沖縄の結婚式

プログラムの流れに関しては、本土とさほど変わりはありませんが、
進行役の人が割りといい意味で適当なことが多い印象です。

私はこれまで10年で6回ほど会社関係で結婚式に参列させてもらいましたが、
いずれも同じような雰囲気と流れで結婚式が行われていましたので、
大体沖縄の結婚式の温度感はわかっているつもりです。

また、若ければ若い人の結婚式ほどヤンチャな参列者も多い印象です。
よくTVで報道される沖縄の成人式のようなイメージです。

特に喧嘩であったり、人に迷惑をかける行為を目の当たりにしたことは
ありませんが、人によっては柄の悪い方が多く参列しているケースも少なくありません。

何れにせよ、場所が東京であれ沖縄であれとも結婚式はめでたい席です。

本土との文化の違いはありますが、めでたく祝う気持ちがあれば多少知らないことが
あっても問題はありません。
服装と祝儀だけポイントを押さえておけば良いと思います。

沖縄の結婚式もめでたい席であることには変わりはございませんので
最大限楽しみましょう！

  • Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store.
