読んで字のごとく、海を見渡す崖の上にそびえ立つ、とても珍しい南の島の神社です。

波上宮（なみのうえぐう）

古来より波上宮のある場所は、ニライカナイの神々に祈りを奉げる拝所でした。

波上宮からすぐ近くにある那覇港は、その昔、外国との交易基地であったため船の出入りが盛んでした。
人々は波上宮へ、出船では航路の安全と大漁を、入船では帰還の無事を感謝の祈りを奉げたそうです。

琉球王府の信仰もあつく、毎年お正月になると国王自ら参拝し、国家の平穏と繁栄を祈るなどして波上宮は王府からも民からも崇敬をあつめ、琉球八社の制が設けられた際には、｢当国第一の神社｣と尊崇されました。

ご利益は、国家鎮護、縁結び、安産、旅行安全、子孫繁栄、延命長寿は遥昔からあつく、近年では建築関係、商売繁盛、初宮詣、厄除と、まさに沖縄総鎮守の名にふさわしく昔も今も人々から深く崇敬されています。

波上宮はアクセス抜群！

波上宮は那覇市の中心にあるため、アクセスは抜群です。
那覇空港から波上宮への行き方はこちら。

【ゆいレール】
約11分「旭橋駅」で下車し、徒歩約15分です。

【車（タクシー）】
那覇空港から10分程度です。道が混んでいても15分あれば到着します。

【バス】
「25」「26」「99」で県庁北口で下車します。
ここから徒歩15分程度で行くこともできますが、更にバスに乗り換えて行くことも可能。
パレットくもじ前バス停より「2」「5」「15」「45」で西部門で下車し、徒歩3分です。

国際通りからも徒歩15分程度で行けます。
帰りの飛行機まで少し時間が空いたときなどに、気軽に立ち寄ることができます。
