大宜味(おおぎみ)村とは？
沖縄本島北部にある大宜味(おおぎみ)村は、まだまだ手付かずの
大自然が広がっている「やんばる」と呼ばれるエリアです。
やんばるは、”山原”と書きます。
やんばるエリアの中でドライブスポットとして注目したいのが「道の駅 おおぎみ」です。
国道58号線沿いにあり、沖縄の精霊であるキジムナー（ぶながやー）の看板が目印となっていますので
非常に分かりやすい場所であります。
目の前には、沖縄のエメラルドグリーンの綺麗な海が広がっていて開放感があり、
駐車場も車を止めやすい作りになっています。
大宜味村は長寿の里としても有名な場所で、「生涯現役」をモットーに
年配の方々が健康的に、スポーツやレクレーション等に取り組んでいるそうです。
その地元の方々の健康を支えるもとにもなっている、大自然で育った多くの
地元野菜がこの「道の駅 おおぎみ」に置かれています。
季節によって様々な野菜やフルーツ、加工品などが売られているので
見ているだけでも楽しめると思います。
この道の駅「おおぎみ」でが地元大宜味村や隣の東村(ひがしそん)でとれた季節の野菜や果物、
特産品をメインに販売しています。
特に夏になると、地元農家から直接仕入れられた、ドラゴンフルーツやマンゴーなどの
新鮮なトロピカルフルーツが沢山販売していますので、お土産にも最適です。
お店の方に話を聞くと以下のような野菜と果物が売っているそうです。

・赤土大根 11月～5月
・シークワーサー 9月～1月（特に夏場）
その他、「生のあおさ」なんかも売っている時があるそうです。
大宜味村の特産品はシークワーサー！
沖縄の特産品として、シークワーサーが有名ですが、
中でも大宜味村のシークワーサーは別格であり、
その独特な甘酸っぱさは新鮮でおいしいと評判です。
シークワーサーはビタミンCはもちろんのことノビレチンという
成分が多く含まれていて、近年は健康や美容に対して良いといわれています。
ノビレチンには、血糖値の上昇や高血圧を抑える効果があり、生活習慣病改善にも
期待されていて度々テレビにも取り上げられるほどです。
女性を中心に注目を浴びています。
シークワーサー関連商品は、お土産にも良いでしょう。

道の駅おおぎみの2階では大宜味村の蕎麦粉を使ったそばが食べられる
2階には休憩処があり、そこでは地元大宜味村の蕎麦粉を使った「十割そば」が食べられます。
テラスからは親川滝を見ることができ、やんばるの癒やしを味わうことができます。
道の駅「おおぎみ」は、大自然やんばるを存分に味わえる場所です。
多くの方が辺戸岬へのドライブ時にも必ずと行っていいほど立ち寄るのではないでしょうか。
